Foster Youth Shadow Day 2015
May 19-20, 2015, more than 60 youth from foster care ascended Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., for the 4th annual Congressional Foster Youth Shadow Experience to share their stories to educate legislators about the foster care system. Watch this video to hear the stories of two participants.
Jimmy Graham (left) of the Seattle Seahawks was impressive at the White House Champions of Change event, sharing his personal story of struggles and success.
Victoria Rowell (right), actress and author, was the closing keynote at the Congressional Luncheon.
The event was put on through a collaboration between Casey Family Programs, the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth, FosterClub, National Foster Youth Institute, Foster Care Alumni of America and Foster Youth in Action. FCAA board members Lacy Kendrick Burk and Constance Krebs helped lead the training and supervise activities for participants.
