We are a collective voice of individuals all over the State of Michigan who have experienced the foster care system. We are law abiding citizens; lawyers, teachers, professionals, laborers, stay-at-home moms and much more; doing our part to strengthen our society. The Foster Care Alumni of America Michigan Chapter works to unify us by creating a platform for us to speak from. The need for our opinion is critical; our experiences have shaped the types of people that we’ve become and the community we help to develop. Our mission is specific and our voice is special. We want foster care youth to live healthy lives and to be empowered by the potential that they hold.
We have taken a legislative approach to issues within the foster care system by informing lawmakers and decision makers within the Department of Human Services of the types of injustices that we’ve faced.
Through this program we’ve built a support network. The Michigan Chapter of Foster Care Alumni of America holds monthly meetings in the city of Detroit. We meet every 4th Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. You can join us at 5555 Conner Street, Detroit, MI 48213 or you can also attend our meetings virtually and via conference call. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a part of our organization please let us know. You can contact us at Joinus@fostercarealumni-mi.org or 313-444-9657.
