The National Foster Care Youth and Alumni Policy Council Released “Breaking Barriers: 10 Pathways to a Thriving Life Beyond Foster Care.”

As a proud partner of the National Foster Care Youth and Alumni Policy Council (NPC), we are excited to share the release of the 10 Pathways to a Thriving Life Beyond Foster Care framework. Developed by the NPC, this comprehensive roadmap is based on insights gathered during the Breaking Barriers roundtable held on September 26, 2024. It marks a significant step toward empowering foster youth and ensuring they have the tools, support, and opportunities needed to thrive as adults.

Why This Framework Matters

Transitioning from foster care to adulthood presents unique challenges, from overcoming trauma to building supportive communities and accessing quality education. The 10 Pathways framework addresses these critical needs, offering actionable strategies for caregivers, professionals, and policymakers to break down systemic barriers and foster resilience. It is a bold, youth-centered approach that prioritizes healing, relationship-building, and meaningful life skills over mere survival.
